Roland Emmerich, the force behind Independence Day, Godzilla, and the upcoming 2012, confessed that among the landmarks he wanted to destroy in 2012 was the Kaaba in Mecca--but decided against out of fear.

In the movie, they destroy Vatican City, but not Mecca? Strange how this director would fear a religion of peace....

What an example of foolishness; these enlightened progressives fear a symbol in the middle of mecca yet they have no problem defiling the 'Living Christ'. They fear the responses of mortal man while their eternal fate is sealed in misplaced trust.
