I was reading through some of the satellite radio questions and comments, and it sounds like some of you are very knowledgable on the subject. so hopefully you can help.

I just put in a new Alpine 9885 deck, and I cannot figure out how to get my stock satellite radio to interface. Does anyone know where the stock sirius comes into the truck. When I put in the new deck, there was another harness (that was installed in the stock deck) that I am not using. Im guessing that is the sirius.

Please help

Yup that's it. You cannot use your factory SIRIUS harness for an aftermarket H/U, unless you start splicing wires.

I believe that if the SAT radio was installed at the factory it is installed underneath the near quad cab seat somehwere. If you buy the kit from Mopar and put it in yourself(like I did) it installs underneath the dash by the parking brake

Your 07 should be the same as my 06. Pull out your glove box (squeeze in the sides and pull out) and look straight up into your dash. The silver box mounted on the plate is the "sat reciever/tuner box". Unbolt the plate and take it all out as one. Sirius makes an aftermarket "sat box" for Alpine systems. It will plug directly into your new head unit. To use your existing antenna on your truck, you will have to break the plastic clip off the end of the lead from the antenna to expose the wire's plug, (see the input on the sat box and you will understand what part of the plug you need) then it will plug into the new "sat box". You can also mount the new sat box on the same plate. Keep in mind when mounting that there are leads coming out both sides of the new sat box. The antenna lead only has enough slack to attach one way and you will need room on the other side for the power and audio out plug. If you have a external multi-disk player it may have to run through the sat box if there are not enough inputs on the back of your Alpine.

Bill3491,
You are my favorite person in the world right now. Thank you for your tip on my satellite. I have been searching high and low, and no one knew the answer.

Thanks again.

Anytime. The sirius box you are looking for is the sir-alp1. I think there is a newer model out now also.

Mine looks the same, but is sold for a Pioneer. My guess is that they are all the same, just different plugs to fit different brand head units. I am just wrapping up my stereo installation and still putting everything back together, so I have only played with it in the garage. I purchased mine on sale last fall at Circuit City (I have put off doing this as long as possible). They said Sirius was coming out with a new model and they were clearing these out. I just jumped around and read a few reviews here and there and they are generally pretty good. Looks like most of those who are not happy are having problems with reception. Using the factory antenna I can get reception in the garage even with the garage door in the open position above the truck. I'll bet the internals of the factory box and the retail box are almost identicle. When I took the box out and compared it to the retail unit side by side, they look similar enough that I would bet one is the retail version and the other is the wholesale assembly line version.
