My buddie has a 2004 ram 1500 slt, we just change the factory radio as the other one would not always come on when the truck was started.
Well this one does the same so must be something else. Sometime you can restar the truck a few time & it will come back on.
Not too sure what we should check next, so I'm looking for ideas.
The radio is the infinity sound system.
at times it works OK for a couple of days.

I would check for voltage on the 12v switched wire, make sure your getting voltage of 12v - 14v there, if so then theres an issue with infinity, or a shorted speaker causing the amp to not go on, deff check the wire first!

My 2004 does the same thing. I read a factory bulletin that said to cover the vents on top of the radio. I pulled mine out and covered with duct tape (recommended by dealer). Didn't make any difference. Still does it. No pattern to it that I can tell. If you find an answer please post for the rest of us. Very frustrating. Did you replace the original with another original or a different brand?? I'm thinking of trying an aftermarket radio from one of the electronic big box stores.

I have a 2004 also and am dealing with the same F'n issue! First, all my door speakers went out so I had no base. Only speakers working were the ones on the dash. Bought the aftermarkets radio, installed it, and the display lit up but now I had no sound at all!

So I jiggled the wires a little, even jiggled some wires under the stearing columb and now my radio doesn't even light up and I lost my power door locks and dome lights. Weird thing is, when the truck is off, the locks and lights don't work, but turn the key on or backwards and they DO work...weird

No fuses are blown either. Weird...

Anyone find the problem, I'd like to know.

Which radio is it?? I had a 2004 with a 6 disc change and I never had a problem with it.
