Open your hood, in front of the battery is the Fuse box. Take the lid off, look inside and it will have a list of what fuses control the radio and amp. If not, go to www.hemitruckclub.com and on the front page download your 05 manual and look there for trouble shooting.

My bad,, I know where the fuse box is. I know older modle years had up to 3 fuses along the radio circuit some in dash,, and what not.

But thanks for the tip on the manual. I did not know that was there.

Manual, basically says my stock amp is crapped out.

Wonder If I did something? OR they do this from time to time.

I just luv the Dealer . Nothing gets your blood pumping harder.

For details please see this thread, of my trip.

Long and short, they claim the stereo is bad, and have to order one.??? Service manual says the amp is bad. I think they only turned on the radio,,,= no sound= bad stereo,, End of diagnosis.

Well, like I thought, not the Stereo. The tech and advisor completly ignored me when I told them not to bother with the stereo, It's fine. There is another problem in the truck.

So another wasted visit. Have to go back on Monday and leave it,,

And yes there were heated words again,,, please see thread listed in above post for the details

Got the truck back today.

New Stereo, New Amp

Their best guess is the radio somehow shorted, then shorted the amp through the pci.

two amps and two radios later, they kept frying one or theother, until they install both together

Update:::

Sort of fixed.

Had a possessed truck this morning.

About 10 minites after I left, the truck felt like it was surging. Then the air bag light came on and stayed on. Got to work, and pulled a cluster code from the odometer, of 67, which means "all door lock module grounded out"

Went out a bit later, and cluster codes were kicking out left and right. Everyone of them, referenced either the ecm or pcm, and pci.

I also learned that for some stupid reason the air bag pci also feeds through the stereo, back to the puter through the cluster.

So,, I guess it appears likely that, the stereo was a symptom, and the ecm and pcm, and pci are the problem.

After some more research, I found a handfull of references others had had, with strange silly issues ultimately traced back to a bad ecm.

I spoke to the Service Manager tonight, and told him of my day. He agreed, sounded like the computer puking out. Which killed my stereo, and amp, and now has done in my air bags.

Too bad the 1st bozo that replaced my radio, never hooked the truck up to the scan tool, and he would have seen the cluster issue,,, the codes stored, had several hundred key starts, which means they were there when I took the truck in the 1st time.

Going in Monday,, Manager advises they will have loaner waiting for me

UPDATE:

Was bad clock spring causing lights on dashboard.

What wires are your Kicker box connected to for a signal?

The amp is feeding off the rear speakers.

Last time the dealer dealer spent a good amount of time trying to make stereo the cause, they say it is not.

I'm gonna send you a pm later with other info to see what you think

I notice in your signature line you have Magnum Aire, which is a compressor. So, I assume your truck is bagged??

If so, I'm assuming the compressor is wired directly to the battery with large-gauge wire and a high-current relay.

What about switches for the compressor? They also need to be wired directly to the battery rather than using anything under the dash.

Another thing to check: Behind the driver-side knee bolster are two common ground points. It's just a bunch of wires bolted directly to the dash frame. Make sure those bolts are tight. The radio grounds to that.

It almost sounds like an intermittent connection somewhere.
