Can this be done? Also the tweeters can they be mounted under the top cover of the dash? I've noticed on the top of my 2005 ram RCSB's dash are two small speaker factory grille holes? I had these in a past car and loved them.

http://www.cadencestore.com/Pr...ry=126&idproduct=194

I was hoping I can get them to work. The only problem is is that I can't find what the depth of the factory 6x9 is? These 6.5" components sit pretty deep.

Next question- I have a 4 channel hifonics amp thats rated at 100rms x 4. What kinda drivers/speakers should I use for the speaker area behind my seat? I know you don't want highs sitting behind you. So should I just get another midbass woofer for that hole to since I'll have my mids and highs in front? kinda like this...
http://www.cadencestore.com/Pr...ry=126&idproduct=429 granted they have tweeters. Do you even need the speakers behind to seat to get good sound even if you have components up front and subs behind the seat?
I plan on using my 400.1 kicker amp with my 2 10" memphis subs for my low bass.

Can anyone shed some light on my little project?

Here is the thread on my install. Stebob basically did the same thing only he has finished his out with a sub in a QC.

You just need to make adapters for your 6.5's and tweets in the dash. I used a 1/4" hard board. Anything will work though. But I was encouraged to paint mine, which was probably a good idea. As you can see in the pic. The front setup I did would be perfect for you. No reason to put highs behind you. You won't hear them. I don't hear my rears unless I bend backwards into the rear seat. Back there you can hear them great. Then just run your 10's off your 400.1 like you said. The doors on these trucks are pretty deep to the window. With an adapter too, I can't imagine there is a 6.5 out that is deep enough to hit the window. I wouldn't worry too much about that. But all you have to do is measure from the track out 1/4" away from the door to figure your allowed depth.

To make the adapters you just trace out the 6x9, mark the holes, cut it out. Then trace out the 6.5 (I used the plastic the speaker sits on to attach the grills to) inside to cut out the hole for the speaker. Then just mount to the adapter and install. I ran all new wire too, but you may not be doing that. I just did it to bypass the Infinity amp easier. You can see all that in my pics. Hope that helps.

Wow thank you very informative! So you're telling me it would pretty much be ok to just run the 6.5" components from the doors, tweets in the dash, and subs without the speakers behind the seats? Since they'll be drowned out from subs anyways.

the 6.5" in question have a 3" depth to them but cadance also makes a 6x9 component too. Its depth is 3.5" though and Im afraid thats pushing it but I'll check all depths before hand. If they will have room more than likly I'll step up to them.

Stebob told me some people don't even run rears period. And that is when we were discussing our QC installs. So I am sure he meant overall, not just because they didn't have the choice. Like you said, you won't hear them unless they are hanging by your head. The 6.5 components are quite overpowering. I don't think you will be disappointed. Just pop a door panel off and measure for the depth. You will probably be fine. The door panels come off in about a minute.

Yep, some guys don't run rear speakers at all, regardless of the vehicle. Some just don't like "rear fill" and want a foward soundstage only.

And, YES, doing what you want is perfectly fine and will sound great!

The 3" depth with a 1/4" space (adapter) will be fine and not cause any issues. Like Graphemi said, just use hardboard (sometimes called fiberboard at the local Lowe's, Menard's, Home Depot, whatever)

Steve, it's funny, after I met up with you that one day, I find myself not listening to it above about 15 or 16 vol. now. 18/19 is just too much to listen to for too long. Whew! Those things get loud.

hehehe..uh-huh!

One thing you might be running into is fatigue. If it is hurting your ears after a bit, try backing down some of the HF, maybe around 12.5k or 10k. That may help.

Yeah, that is a good option. I considered that but had to make adapters for my tweets anyways so I just went that route.
