I'm getting ready to get new tires due to the BFgoodrich rugged trail (Stock) tires getting severally checked on the side walls. They actually have chunks missing on all 4 tires. I'm wandering about the weight rating for the tires. The tires have half there tread left with 50000 miles on them. Could the mega be a little heavy for them?

If you're into ATV's let me know, maybe our groups can get together for some offroad fun.

50,000 miles sounds like a normal life I would check the load range on them just for giggles.

I am actually suprised how much tread is left on them, I was expecting like 40000mi. But as for the side wall. I've never seen it fall apart like this on anything i've had.

Are you checking the pressure ?? Dealer does not read the door and sets mine at 35lb. Way to soft.

50k is pretty good. But a load range D or E is good just really depends on what you haul/tow with your truck.

Hmmm, now I'm going to have to look at my stock BFG's the next time I go outside. I have around 53K on them (I ran 33's on the truck for a year, truck actually has 59k) and they still have plenty of tread left as well. I go by the door sticker and run 60/80 psi; seems to be just fine. The truck weighs in around 6400 pounds. My 33's on the other hand are a D load range and can only handle 50 psi. I should've bought E's. Now my truck isn't a Mega so I may be a little lighter at the scales but I've seen the same tires on Cummins equipped trucks too.

Side checking was due to lowering the pressure to soften the ride. my mistake. But I get to put new tires on now, plus shocks. now to decide on the options.

I'm running the stock Michelin LTX A/T's on my mega cab. They are load range "E". The tire pressure rating is 60 psi. When unloaded driving around I run 50 psi. They have 48k miles on them now and still look as good as when I drove off the dealership. I'm not all that familiar with the BFG. I'm surprised they are checking on the side. I heard that BFG's had thicker side walls.
