Ok i've been reading, and reading, and reading.

I've come to the conclusion that I am putting on larger tires. Originally i was going to run 285/70/17. Current tires are stock 265/70/17's.

My questions are:
1-How much will my mileage be affected? I do mostly city driving and am a little heavy on the accelerator and average about 12MPG.

2-Long term speaking, how much extra wear will the larger tires put on my transmission and gearing?

3-I've upgraded the front brakes with NAPA Cross Drilled/Sloted and NAPA ceramic pads, will they wear faster with the larger tire on it?

4-Has anyone had any issues of the 295/70/17's rubbing/not fitting on a 2004 QC 4x4? I've thought about the torsion keys and called to the local shops and one want $300 Installed, the other is 385+tax for install and alignment wich includes shock extender tabs (I think that's what he said) I know FREEZE recomends the Blisten shocks but one thing at a time...

Thanks guys! Any info is greatly appreciated

You won't have any rubbing issues with the 295's, but your city mpg and acceleration will drop a little due to the increased rotating weight and decrease in effective gearing. Highway mileage may get a little better since your RPM's will drop at a given speed. I wouldn't expect a significant increase in brake wear, but you might want to look at stainless steel brake lines. You shouldn't have any tranny or gear wear issues.

Thanks for your input Freeze.

What would te benefits of SS brake lines be?
I figured milage would go down, wasn't too worried about it, more concerned about overall wear and tear.

Thanks Robert!

i'm just wondering if the 17x8 stock rim will be wide enough for the 295/70. I see you have the 17x9 rims.

SS brake lines don't swell under pressure, so your braking ability will improve dramatically. I wasn't able to get enough pressure w/ the stock lines and 35's to make the tires lock up and ABS kick in, even when I stood on the pedal with both feet. I almost ran over a Civic as a result. No problems since installing the SS lines.

Kevin, the stock 17 x 8 wheels will be fine for 295/70R17 tires.

What's wrong with runnng over a Civic??
ricer

I'll check out the SS Brake lines as well, still trying to figure out if I want to go bigger and wait and get new rims or not...decisions decisions.

I've got that feeling if i go with the 295/70's I'll want something bigger.

Thanks for the input Freeze, you've been a big help!

Now to narrow down tires.

Nitto Terra Grapplers or Toyo Open Country A/T

Leaning towards the Nitto's because i don't think Toyo makes a 295/70
