hello i have a 2006 q/c 4x4 w/5.7 hemi. I need some help my truck makes this pinging noise on a hot day like 90-100 degrees out. The noise is intermittent. I just recently moved from md. to pa. Welcome aboard perry's06hemi - we're glad you joined us!
Is the noise more of a ticking noise? Can you narrow down its location?

MrHemi the noise sounds like a exhaust manifold or exhaust leak period but its intermittent and I would think if it was one of those issues it would be constant.Seems to happen more in 4th and 5th gear and starting from a stop. I thought I got a hold of some bad gas and also added some dry gas just in case. dealer found no trouble codes today. Also reminds me of gas vapor lock since it only happens after driving 30-50 miles on a hot day

if you can hear the engine pinging your knock sensors are dead or you have a PCM or wiring harness problem.
the PCM retards the timing if the knock sensors detect any pinging and this sensors are very sensitive.

If you can hear it while in 4th and 5th gear, it must be pretty loud! Any mods done to the truck?

Just for something to check you might look at the PCV valve and see if it is seated all the way.

What octane rating are you runnin?? Also you may wanna try a 180 t-stat, it will help on those hot days and add a little more fuel.

Needless to say, trying to diagnose something from a post, is hard to do, and less than scientific. From what u say, it sounds like detonation. There are a lot of causes, and cures for this, but I'm not going into that, at this stage of the game. Put the highest octane fuel available in yer area, in for the next two fill-ups, and let me know what, if any difference there is. professor
