our standard CAI will not work. It looks like it is similar to the LX intake TB location. Not a bad thing.. but the Ram conversion will need to include an option for a new CAI for it to work. thumb2

I am a little confused on the pricing. $325...is that just for the TB tube? Because when you click on the adapter and 5.7L intake option, it adds $600. So is that $925 total? dunno

I think you get the inlet adapter for 325 and the Intake is another 600 so 925 total but I don't see any dyno numbers for a grand I want lots of HP!

Yeah, for $1k, I am thinking at least 50hp. If it only gets you around 20 or 25, then what the heck? That's all show and no go for the money.

horse power gains can only be based on YOUR supporting mods. If your engine is needing more air, we can assume, this will open up a previously unexplored bottle neck. Big cam, stage II/III heads, and stroker motors will likely see the biggest gains... In higher RPM ranges. My opinion is that trucks will not see as much gain as the LX platform.

Intake manifolds are not much unlike exhaust headers. Each design has a function... however intakes are a much more refined art. Generally shorter length runners equal quicker HP, but longer runners usually produce more TQ. Take a minute and search HTC for "09 Hemi Active Intake". This is the best of both worlds, maximizing upper end HP, and bottom end torgue, buy changing from long runners under normal driving, to shorter runners when WOT and above 3,500rpms

The ideas behind design.
Intake runners are designed by tuning a series of pulses....(think of it like a siphon hose, with your finger tapping the exit side) if those pulses are tuned (length) correctly, it could even creates a small "super-charging" effect... therefore even more increasing cylinder air/fuel volume... leading to, yup, more power. That timing of "waves" can be moved up and down the rpm range. Example. The LX cars have longer intake runners... they end up with more torque, we have shorter runners, and have more HP. I see the design of this intake as even shorter than ours... and can only assume it will move our peak hp/tq numbers up further in the RPM range. How much... i have no idea.

IMHO no. I don't like the right angle turn the air has to take, to get into the intake!

For a n/a engine, you'll lose hp and tq with this intake. We tested it on a 6.1 based 418 stroker with modified 5.7 heads and lost 50 ft lbs, tq and 20 hp compared to the trucks stock 5.7 intake. As seen in the posted pic, you'll notice that the 5.7 made the most hp/tq even over the 6.1 intake on port missmatched heads. The XV is the lowest of them all and all 3 intakes used the same amount of fuel during the pulls.

^That definitely makes sense. I know the Chevy guys have to be real careful with the FAST/LS1/LS2 intakes on their trucks, they too seem to lose power depending on the application but sure do look nice.
