So exactly which trucks came with MDS to start? Didn't the 04's have the "ports" for it, but the 05's were the first year to have it in some of them? Seems like I never see an 05 with it but I thought they had it in some? Just curious. Of course the trucks is what I am talking about.

MDS started in 05 with the LX 5.7 cars. Then in 06, the Ram 1500s (excluding 1500 mega) all have MDS. NO trucks earlier than 06 ever had MDS. It was a model year specific change, not a phase in deal. And as far as i know the "5.7 blocks" from 05 and newer are all "machined" for it.

I never knew that. I know the '05 Ram is the last 5.7 without the MDS system. When I was ready to buy my truck I did my homework and decided to go ahead and get an '05 model for that reason instead of waiting for the '06.

I knew the 04/05's were, but I guess I didn't realize the 03 was.... dunno That would make sense though, otherwise they would have been changing the motor from one year to the next.

I think all 5.7 blocks came with the provisions for it, whether it was used or not.

You are correct. In versions without MDS, they simply put a plastic plug in the port. My 03 block has them. Anyone with MDS can simply remove the controllers and put thost plastic plugs in, and eliminate it, or just turn it off with Superchips or Diablo tuners.

So what have we learned in 2 millennia?

"The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance."
- Cicero - 55 B.C.

Apparently, nothing......

"How far you go in life depends on you being tender with the young,
compassionate with the aged,
sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and the strong.
Because someday in life you will have been all of these."
