You may want to look into putting a Dana 60 in it to go with the built tranny. Do you plan to massage the heads and intake ports any? Bigger valves?

One word of advice. Research how many of the 426 engines are starting to fail after running for 1-2 years. I wouldn't recommend going bigger than a 392 6.1 or 370 5.7. The top of the cylinders are wearing prematurely and a few have broken cranks as well. Too much side load is being put on the cylinders of the 418 cu in '426' stroker motors.

Good point. A 392 would make plenty of power with all the usual NA head tricks and some good balancing.

Gee, racing motors wear out, and break. Who would of thunk it. Big Grin Keeps me in business. That heavy ass QC needs cubic inches to turn the times he wants. Most motors that wear-out/break, have a story behind it! Lets take a basically stock Hemi. Valve springs break, don't use valve springs? Toner rings break, hell, we don't need that anyway. #3 piston lets go, we'll just build a V-7. Big Grin Race it, it can break.

I agree, but explain to the customer that his $10,000 engine will run like a bat out of hell for 10,000 miles then blow up ruining the block. That doesn't cut it for a street machine. I spared no expense on my engine and was told flat out to stay at a 392. I suppose other customers may have lower expectations then me, but I don't think I'm asking for too much.

See, that's exactly part of the problem. Tell yer machinist/engine builder, just exactly what u plan on doing. Clearances for a blown/turbo/nos motor are different. Especialy the ring end gap. Those of u under boost, did u give any thought to yer intake valve springs. It's under xxx lbs of pressure, thus lowering the usable spring pressure. How about the cam. Anyone got one with the 4-7 switch, in the firing order? Without it, cyl. 5&7 are fighting for the intake charge. How much do u trust yer computer, or the tuning of it. Is it infallible? There's a lot to this guys, trust me on that.
