As some of you may already know I fried a couple of gears while driving the truck real hard before my dyno last week. I was on the way to do my "Hemi Shop Heads" After dyno when I broke the tranny.

P0700 Transmission Control System Malfunction
P0734 Gear 4 Incorrect Ratio
P0735 Gear 5 Incorrect Ratio

So I decided to rebuild her myself. I picked up a Master Rebuild Kit localy at Axiom for $285. It came with a new Valve Body Screen, Seals, O-Rings, Raybesto Clutches, and Steels. Pretty much everything you need for a complete rebuild. Also bought the 45RFE Manual, Green Assembly Grease, Cooler Clean, Black Silicone and both Tranny Filters at Axiom. The total came out to $330. Pretty cheap for a complete rebuild IMO.

Just couldn't justify purchasing the $450 SunCoast Clutches and Steels if they're gonna burn up just as easily as the stock parts. I've seen Acctorch (Accsteel) go thru a couple of the SunCoast Kits. Unless your adding clutches like Sharadon is doing in their performance trannys I just don't see them holding up.

Here are some pics of the rebuild:

Took the empty Tranny shell down to AMMCO and got it flushed out and cleaned up. Then I hit it with some black engine paint.

Low/Reverse Clutch Housing on the Left
2-4 Clutch Retainer on the Right

Input Clutch Housing

Fried OD Steels and Clutches

OD hub was still in good shape and was reused

Here are some pics of the Tranny Oil Pump

Tranny Oil Pump has been disassembled, cleaned/flushed and reassembled.

Valve Body was completely disassembled and cleaned.

The PML Deep Tranny Pan

There she is, all pretty in black and fully rebuilt with PML pan for under 550 bucks.

Installed her yesterday and she is now working flawlessly. The rebuild was a complete success. Just can't slam on the gas while at Highway speeds or I'm sure I'll fry the OD clutches again.

PH

You must be incredibly detail oriented to even try that rebuild on your own.

BTW what kind of clutches did you use.
