If I understand the technology correctly, the sensor is in the valve stem, and sends a radio signal to the dash monitor? So if this is the case, can I put chrome valve caps on, or will they interfere with the system? This is on an '09. Thanks!

Pretty sure the sensor is attached to the inside of the rim, not in or around the valve stem. You should be fine with the chrome valve caps!

Chrysler does the TPMS as a part of the valve stem. It is a small (about the size of your thumb) module that sits flat against the wheel (on the inside), held on via the valve "stem". That stem now is completely metal, with o-rings and squeeze nuts to seal from the outside and the inside.

Sooo... since the valve stem is metal... i dont see how metal/chrom valve caps would hurt anything. The worse that could happen is you get a light on the dash saying "low pressure"

DON'T do it! I put some chrome one's on mine. A couple weeks later, went to check tire pressure and one was stuck and would not come off. It broke the valve stem and dealership charged $78 to replace. Thought maybe I put it one too tight. Well a few weeks after that guess what, all 4 were stuck on! I am aboslutely sure I did not overtighten. Read on some other sights that I'm not the only one that has had this happen. Some issue with the materials used in dodge's tpms valves that when using metal valve caps, they get "welded" on. Dealership also said they have had a lot of problems with this, but would not cover under warranty.

no problem guys, I never would have thought they would cause a problem at all, even after the first one broke. When all 4 got stuck the second time, and I researched on the web that's what I found out. Glad I could help you from having the same problem and possibly $300! That money could be better used on more mods!
