right after i bought my truck (26,000 mi)i noticed a slight wobble in the steering wheel, so i took it in for balancing. tech said one of the front tires wouldn't balance real well so i had hin mount it on the right rear. during the winter the steering started shaking again, thinking it was most likely snow packed inside the wheel i ignored it. today i noticed at about 15mph the front of the truck was shifting right to left, got home jacked the front up and spun the tire and the stupid thing has a broken belt. here i am at just over 38,000 with two bad tires. checked the tread depth and the worst i could find (except on the goose egg of course) was 7/32" most places were a healthy 8/32". my last truck i had 2 out of 4 Wrangler AT's get broken belts with alot of tread left....so out of all the Good Year tires i have owned half of them have gone bad with alot of life left in them. i could see if i was driving over curbs and such but my trucks never make it off the street...what gives? anyone else having this kind of trouble?

Goodyear tires are hands down some of the worst, if not the worst, out there. The OE issues ones are really bad. Cupping, broken belts, premature treadwear, and not able to balance are all common issues with GY's.

You can bet I would never PAY for a set of Goodyear's, they are absolute junk!

I swapped out my stock GY at 25K miles because I honestly did not feel safe driving on them in the rain and for sure not in snow/ice. They still had 50-60% tread on them.

tigman 250, i can't begin to count the number og good tires that have had the belts seperate or knot. My wifes Jeep had all 4 of the Goodyear Wranglers seperate, causing the death wobbble. We got them to replace them after they tried balancing several times, trimed all the tires to true them, replaced the steering stabilizer. I knew the what the problem was, because i have seen too many times, but you have do the song & dance initialy with the dealer to see how it plays out.
I have aset of Goodyear MTR's on my Jeep and they are the loudest tire i have ever hear. I can't wait to wear them out to replace them with BF Goodrich KM2's like i have on my ole Hemi thumb2 Check out the KM2's:

..I worked for a tire shop for a few months in 1999. Part of my job was doing tire claims. Between doing claims and talking to co-workers who had been in the tire business for years, all of them agreed back then that Goodyears were really bad. The car that I was driving at the time had a set of GY's from the factory-as soon as I could afford it,I changed them out. I have not had GY's on any of my vehicles since.....
