No kidding. Same track as I ran low 14's at when I first got the truck. No changes to the truck at all-still dead stock. The temperature was 60 degrees, and I let the truck cool down for about an hour before I made a pass. I can post a picture of the timeslip and a picture of the truck at the track with the number they assigned me written on the windshield. The video I got this time was off of a cell phone camera, and is of such poor quality that the et and mph are not legible on the scoreboard.

I was astounded myself-I was hoping for 13.90's or so. The pass was made with just under 1/4 tank of gas. No other weight reduction was done. Oddly enough, I forgot to let any air out of the rear tires, and I still got my best short time yet in this truck-2.06 seconds. I would have thought that would hurt me somewhat in the 60 ft department, but apparently not.

How do you shift it? Do you stay in 3rd gear thru the end also? or do you go to overdrive?

That is insane! I can't believe how fast that thing is! I wish you wouldn't post this stuff. My wife is already pissed at me every time I tell her I want an 09 Ram. Now she is going to hear it even more! Are you sure this track isn't at a 20% downgrade? LOL!

Dline, if he shifts it the way he explained it before then he manually shifts it to 3rd, which in the 09 actually shifts to 2nd prime. I wish I could do that with mine because 3rd is such a huge jump and 2nd prime would get me to the finish line.

V8440, does 2nd prime get you to the finish line or do you have to go into 3rd (1:1)? What was your speed? I can only do 90mph in 2nd Prime and you must be around 98mph to run a 13.75.

I had the same problem when I was stock. I was doing 86 (I think) in the 1/4 stock. It was shifting into 3rd at the very end of the track. I'd rather hurt my mph and et a little than blow my tranny because of the weak 2nd prime gear.

Actually now, with my smaller slicks I was doing 92-93 in the 1/4 and still barely getting into 3rd. It sucked but even with second prime I'd be getting into 3rd.

Actually the 1-2 jump is way bigger than the 2-3 jump. 3:1 first and 1.6?:1 2nd and 3rd would be 1:1. My truck doesn't pull that great in 3rd either. It's not so much the jump in gearing, I don't know what it is really. Aerodynamics probably.

I'm in 3rd through the lights, not 2nd prime.

What is your speed? I figured you would have to hit 3rd since you must be around 98mph.

Starchief, why do you say 2nd prime is weak? I remember someone else saying that. Have there been a bunch of guys breaking 2nd prime?

Third definitely sucks and the drag coefficient goes up exponentially as you go fast so that is a huge part of it, but it would pull harder it was a little higher in the RPM range. It isn't as big of a deal on the 1-2 shift because it doesn't take long to go up several hundred rpm in 2nd after the shift. It takes forever in 3rd because it is geared so damn high. I put tiny 25.5" tall tires on the back and it dropped my 1/8 ET by .25 seconds, but only dropped my 1/4 ET by .1 seconds. It hated being in 3rd longer with the little tires. It pulled harder at the far end where it was in 3rd before, but the pull was much softer at the point on the track where it was in 2nd with the big tires and was in 3rd with the small tires. I may try running them again next month with the short belt.

Yeah, lots of people have had problems with 2nd prime. And apparently when it goes the whole tranny goes with it

At least you have 3.92s. I have the 3.55s. They're god awful.

Hopefully soon I'll have the 6 speed in and some 4.10s so I won't have to worry about any of that BS gearing anymore.

I dunno, what does your truck run? Remember also that you're a quadcab.
