Are the Tundras really faster than our Hemis stock vs stock? They're so damn ugly and so damn bulky I don't see how. I still paid about half what most people pay for their Tundras so that's ok. What about the Titans?

yep, tundras really are faster stock for stock. with that being said, our trucks come with available 3.92's, tundras come with available 4.30's. are trucks come with sad little exhaust manifolds, tundras have available shorty-headers from the factory. stock 2wd hemi w/3.92's and 17's would probably lose to a stock 2wd tundra with tow-package (4.30 rear-gear, traction control, and factory headers) Just my 2 cents. titans are slow

Damn! On youtube and streetfire so many people talk crap about every other make and all have their own opinions on what's faster. I would guess the Hemi faster but I guess not. Is that the only other truck that's faster stock? not counting lightnings or srt-10s? How much does single car or quad cab and short and long bed matter? Seems that a 4 door would weigh a lot more but does it affect the 1/4 mile times much?

weight is a huge impalement for our trucks. for 14-15 second trucks a gen rule of thumb is every 100 lbs is a tenth off your et. I.E. if you could get a 15 sec truck that weighs 5300 lbs to lose some weight, say 500 lbs, that same truck (weather conditions being the same) should run mid 14's. its all about power to weight ratios. now adding power like headers, exhaust, heads, cam, etc and reducing weight can be even more beneficial to the occasional drag-racer. I've gotten the weight of my truck down to around 4900lbs (race-weight with me in it) and added a bunch of N/A power. these combinations have gotten me from a stock 1/4 time of 15.4ish to now consistant 13.80's. anything is possible with persistence. back to your post, lightenings and srt-10's aren't being made anymore to my knowledge so that throws them out anyways. i think QC's weigh around 300-400 lbs more than reg cabs in 2wd trim, so 3-4 tenths diff in a rcsb to a qcsb, all things being equal, (gears, tire height, weather etc.

I'm planning on going to the track again next week without the spare, tailgate, tool box and a lot less gas and see what it will run then.

Starchief-I have a reg.cab shortbed w/3.92's and factory lsd.I have not had a chance to weigh it yet. With a True-Flow A/I,a catback exhaust(w/magnaflow muff)and a(airram) powerwire,I ran a best of 14.74 with a 2.11 60 foot.I removed my front swaybar and the sparetire, added a set of spring clamps(to the front),ran 28-30psi in the rear tires/38psi for the fronts and dropped my tailgate down(for weight distribution)and had about a 1/8-3/8 tank of gas.also,I created a no-wheel hop situation. It is a little biased as I think it will only work on a truck with a flip-kit.With a flip-kit,you have less space between the axle and frame-I cut down my factory axle stops(axle bumpers?),which gave the axle zero room to move(no hop). The last part is an idea I had wanted to try.

My truck weighed in at 5320 with a passenger, tool box, spare tire and almost a full tank of gas. It's 100% stock. It ran 15.42 with a 60 of 2.29. I didn't get any hop or spin at all with stock tires.

I went to the 1/8 mile track the other day. I raced a Tundra rc/sb 2wd with 4.30 and headers. It ran a 9.22 and I ran a 9.63. I will be improving when I go again this week, because the air is drier and cooler, plus I will have my e-fan on and a track intake. My time was with the few mods in my sig.

Let me tell yo fellers a little secret about those ugly ass Tundras seein how i went to school and have my AAS in Auto Tech and in some of my classes i had some Toyota dip shi*S in some of my classes, i found out that alot of the new tundras when they came out, and probably still do, HAD CRANKSHAFT RECALLS, as soon as they hit the market frikin CRANK RECALLS that is a huge thing to go wrong with, and it wasnt a crank swap to fix it, they have to replace the whole damn engine, damn i hate fookin toyota. Those headers arent actually shorty headers they are sort of inbetween LTs and shorties, like a halfy LOL or something, they are Maxed out on their TUNE, and like FASTGRAPHITE said, they have a 4:30 ring and pinion out back, that is a tall ass gear ratio. I think they are screwed now, they hit the market too soon, of course they are going to be better those squinty eyed SOBs have been engineering their trucks while ours have been on the sales rack, the new 2009 Hemi Ram, with supposedly a 6.1 is going to OWN tundra, cut its balls off and squash them. IM just glad that when one of those big headed ass holes roles up to me and rolls his window down i can just point, give the thumbs down, laugh and put an ass whoopin after that POSI kicks in.

Glad to hear it! Though, I don't wish anyone to be unhappy with their new Tundra, they are nice trucks and pretty dang quick once they get traction. But what do they know about making a truck? And they're way too expensive. I'm glad to see another Texan dislikes them as much as I do!

By the way, last time I went to the track there was a stock 07 Tundra 5.7 4.30 4x4 there. I stomped him all night long in my stock hemi ram. His best was 15.1 mine was 14.8. He said the best he's ran was 14.95. He would roast his tires half way down the track with not much help from the "traction" control BS YODA has. My posi grips and goes. And my truck was probably half the price of his.

thumb2Your just a better driver than he was!
All BS aside that does mean the difference in a win or a loss in a lot of cases. They (Tundras) have a strong engine, better gearing but are POS. If you ever see one thats been in a wreck and compare it to a Ram you'll be amazed. They crumple like aluminum foil.

ElectricBlueHemi...How long have you been in Burleson? I went to school in Joshua many, many years ago. Use to date a lot of girls from there. Almosty married one. Frowner
Almost. Big Grin
