I haven't driven the truck enough to know if this mode is better, but I thought I would ask you guys. I am assuming that tow/haul mode might loosen up the converter a little and firm up the shifts, but it might also retard the timing since it is expecting a bigger load. Has anyone run back to back runs and determined which mode nets better ET's?

Thanks!

I get my best times with the tow/haul turned on. It really isn't even close, there is a big difference between having it on and off.

I guess I should have tried it. I was picking up a tenth on each run, so it would have been hard to see what it did. I talked to a guy at the track who races his all the time and he said it didn't make a difference at WOT.

My buddie's Chevy is slower in tow/haul mode.

Mine never really made a difference. Not even in manual shifting it. SuperChips makes a difference though.

I still can't believe that an Exploder is that fast.

I engage the tow/haul mode once mine has shifted into 3rd gear....

I cross the traps @ 5500-5600 rpms in 3rd gear, I don't want a shift into 4th with the juice goin.....

I have tried both ways and with my truck anyhow, I get better et's with the tow/haul not engaged. By about 1 to 2 tenths.

what size nitrous jets are you running? Mine is strong out of the hole but falls on it's face in 3rd gear. I have run it with tow/haul on and off and it still runs 13.7-13.8 @ 93-94mph either way.

I think most of us barely hit 3rd gear anyway so tryin to keep it out of OD is no problem.

Tow haul keeps it in gear longer and will downshift when braking but will not let MDS kick in and will go into 4th and 5th.

OD off just locks out 4th and 5th gear.

I think I read in the manual that Tow/haul locks out 5th and OD off locks out 4th and 5th. Neither of which will affect a 1/4 mile run.

Does it really downshift on breaking in Tow/Haul mode. I was hoping it would do that but when I was messing with that mode I didn't notice a difference. Should it downshift when coasting or only when on the brakes? I wish these trucks would downshift like my buddy's Ford Diesel.

I also wish my truck went as quick as his Ford. It is an F350 Crew Cab long bed 4x4 with big tires and ran 13.6 @ 101mph. He launched it in 4wd with me in it over the weekend and I couldn't believe how much it threw me back in the seat! I guess 42psi of boost will do that!

I'm pretty sure that's what it does when braking. It doesn't do it all the time but some times. And I'm pretty sure it does go into 5th when in tow haul.

tow haul absolutely locks out 5th gear, and MDS. Hence the only reason, we all dont drive around in tow/haul all the time to defeat MDS.... we lose 5th.
