Anyone ever changed the fluid in a transfer case? I never have and I have had two 4x4's. How do you even do it? Is it easy like a manual tranny or do you have to do some sort of flush to get it done? I always wondered that.

I'm assuming that you're working on a Hemi Ram 1500 4X4. Just did mine last Spring. It's easy, just warm it up and remove the drain plug. Then reinstall the plug and refill with Amsoil ATF.

I am actually not working on anything now... Frowner
I sold mine about a year and a half ago. I just didn't know what all was involved. I was thinking it was probably something simple like a manual tranny or something. Thanks!

how often should this be swapped out? I was told the general rule for auto transmissions was 100,000mi and then again at 175,000. Does the transfer case follow the same rules?

A trans should never go that far without a change maybe 30,000 to 50,000 miles depending on how you drive it!
