Here's a question I'm throwing out there, has anybody done a solid axle swap on their 3rd gen 4x4 ram? I know that it gets done to GM trucks fairly often and was wondering if anyone has been brave enough to try it with a Ram yet? Sure would be a step up from the IFS that dodge has given us, especially if you decide to do a large lift.

It could be done just as easy as a Chevy. But if you want a solid axle just buy a 2500. Dodge already built it for ya. Wink

Welcome to the HTC, snake2083. Nobody that I know of has swapped their IFS for a solid axle. A couple of people have suggested it to me, but I haven't seen it done and don't really have a warm fuzzy about the whole process.

Thanks for the welcome. I've been watching for awhile but just never got around to posting anything. I know it would be easier to just trade up for a 2500, but that's not the point. I would like to lift my truck someday and I'm just not crazy about the IFS. I've been researching it and I know there are a few kits out there, but I'd like a kit that does it right. Would be nice to get some upgraded control arms and halfshafts, but haven't been able to find a company that makes 'em. I just see the IFS components as being a weak link in a nice offroad rig. If anyone can point me in the right direction for a good rugged kit, please feel free.

The only full axle swap I have seen on the Hemi ram was replacing it with the SRT 10 rear end and that was done at the Hemi Shop by Beast2
