I got around to changing my T-case fluid today. A fairly simple process after you figure out all the tools you need.
What you need:

The first thing you do is climb under the truck and go into a panic because the exhaust pipe is right in front of the drain plug. Frowner
What you need for this is a 10MM allen key with a ball socket on it. This will allow you to get in there on an angle. Then you will also need a 3/8 wrench to turn the allen key because you can't get enough leverage with just the key.
Now just drain the fluid and reinstall the plug.

Then you will find out the fill plug is way up in above the crossmember in a place thats impossible to get to.
You will need a 10MM allen key for this one too. I used one you can put on a ratchet with an 8" extension. Worked great.

Now to put the fluid back in you will need either a pump or a funnel with a 12" long fexable fill tube. You can snake it through above the crossmember and it gets you back far enough so you can dump in the fluid.
Then just put the plug back in.

For the oil I used Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF. I know some of you guys like other stuff.
It will hold 4 pints. Which equals to 2 quarts.

Funny...I just had a post on this wondering about the exhaust. Went out today and just pryed the exhaust up with a crow bar and propped it on 2x4s. Then I could get the allen right in there.

My trans case only held 1.7qts though per Amsoil's app guide. But about the time I got to that amount it started running out the fill hole anyways.....Guess that is one way to figure it out....lol. Great write up though. I like those allen wrenches you have. Those would have made it easier.

When I fist saw that I looked at it for sometime. My pipe is very solid. I don't think there was no way to pry it out of the way.The ball allen keys really saved the day.

Yeah, I thought that for sure at first too. Actually that is what I posted that moving the exhaust was probably out of the question. I only have a straight pipe with a muffler and dump though off the y. So when I pried up on it, it gave and jumped up a few inches. Someone with a full exhaust setup or factory setup would probably not be able to do that. I need to get a set of those allens. Those are sweet. Where did you get them? Or what brand are they?

I got them through Summit. I got a gift card for Christmas one year. One of the best tools I own.
