Our 99 Ram brakes are now mechanical. The line from the intake to the booster is collapsing. We tried a new hose, but brakes still are not working with power.

Anyone have an idea of what the problem might be. All help will be appreciated.

While running, pull line off of brake booster. Does it have vacuum? With line off of intake, (motor not running), and on brake booster, either suck on hose, or if u have a vacuum pump, see if diaphragm will hold a vacuum, or not.

We have vacuum and the diaphragm is holding. I am about to give up, LOL. Any more suggestions. This really has me puzzled.

After removing the booster, (my grandson did this for me) we took it to Advanced Auto Parts to buy a new one. When we got there, the booster had brake fluid dripping from it. Seems the Master cylinder seal had failed and was allowing brake fluid to get into the booster, causing the diaphragm to go bonkers. We ended up replacing the master cylinder and booster and now have great brakes. We did not have to bleed the lines. Sure nice to have power brakes now.
