Hopefully someone can shed some light on this issue I am having.

Yesterday I upgraded to my 3rd DVD head unit with HD-Radio, Blue tooth, & all the goodies. Well all was well and good until I left the stereo shop got gas and made 2 more stops. After the third stop about half a block down the road my "ABS PUMP" kicks on & the brake, abs, & check engine lights all come on.

So not knowing exactly what this noise is at first I shut off the truck pop the hood and jump out. The noise doesn't stop, just keeps going. So it's coming from the module behind the battery.

So I drive right over to my mechanic & he was all "well these dodges are touchy with new stereo's" at which point he informed me that it was the "ABS PUMP" staying on. So he disconnected the plug & it stopped. So that's well & good for now so it won't kill my battery. But now I have no speedometer or abs breaks. Lucky for me I have a GPS that has a speedometer in it.

But anyways, He said I should take it back to the stereo shop and have them disconnect the stereo & see if it still stays on. So I did, & much to my dismay the noise didn't go away with the stereo removed. So I told my stereo guy that it seems pretty odd timing that this would happen right after he worked on my truck. So he went & got his mechanic to come look at it, & he said it was a solenoid stuck on. We checked all the fuses & they are all good. Not sure why we wasted our time, since the PUMP is running. But anyways they are fine. DUH. So pretty much they were no help so I went back to my mechanic & he said he could get the "module" from the junk yard for $300 bucks & put it in for say $75 but he was like if you want I could just cut the wire to the ABS for a cheap fix. I was like noooooo no no. So I told him to order the part, he said it would come in on Monday.

So today I remembered about codes, so I went out to the truck and did the "On, Off, On, Off, On" & it popped P0501 & P2161. So I looked them up on this pdf someone posted here.

http://www.edgeproducts.com/pr...-user_manual-302.pdf

P0501 Vehicle Speed Sens Perf
P2161 Vehicle Speed Sens B Interm/Erratic

I also reconnected the connector that makes the abs run again, and did the codes again just to make sure I didn't miss one. Because it seems these codes might just be from disconnecting the connector?

So basically I'm here hoping someone might know something more then my mechanic who didn't even check for codes. And before I spend more then I spent on my new stereo on this problem.

Thank You Very Much For Your Time.

UPDATE: Just tried to do a PCM/TCM reset. Not sure if it worked or not as I didn't hear the dings. But it did take a second to start up as it does when it resets. So I am thinking it worked?

I reconnected the connector for the ABS & did the reset with it running & also pulled fuse 6 which is the ABS PUMP fuse the noise stopped. So I did another PCM/TCM reset then tried to put the fuse back & it started the pump up right away. Frowner

But at least I can just leave fuse 6 out for now and have my speedometer & mileage back.

I also tried the gas pedal reset just because.

So yea still stuck with the ABS PUMP running when the fuse is in. Maybe it really does need to be replaced?

I'm just wondering how this happened & if it had anything to do with the new stereo install or if it's just very strange timing. Hmmm

Oh yea, almost forgot. Since I put the connector back & pulled the ABS PUMP Fuse instead. I am getting no codes. Even though the ABS PUMP fuse is pulled. So those codes before had nothing to do with this issue as I thought. Just because I had pulled the connector that also does the speedometer.

I have the same thing going on

I also have an after market stereo head unit but my ABS didn't start this till long after I put that in

I was driving down a dirt road one day and an animal ran out infront of me I hit the binders and noticed no ABS kicking in then as I went on my way the motor started running and didn't stop but it didn't pulse the brakes

I took the fuse out to so the motor doesn't run I think it is the control module I read someone else on the net having this problem and that fixed it let me know if that fixes your problem damn ABS I just want the darn lights off on the dash
