The cam itself, or a 5.7 with a 6.1 cam?

Neither one would be covered by warranty after installation of the cam, unless you can talk your local Dodge dealer into doing the install as a factory warranty replacement.

So what have we learned in 2 millennia?

"The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance."
- Cicero - 55 B.C.

Apparently, nothing......

"How far you go in life depends on you being tender with the young,
compassionate with the aged,
sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and the strong.
Because someday in life you will have been all of these."

iagree

The saving grace would be, unless someone told them, I doubt they would recognize one Dodge cam, from the other.

Even if the dealer swapped in a 6.1 as warranty replacment it still wouldn't be covered as the part number for the 6.1 cam on the warranty claim would show up as the incorrect part for the application and they dealership wouldn't be paid for the work by chrysler.

I will agree that visually they wouldn't be able to tell though. Unfortuantly though this has been done enough now that many techs know to look for things like this, especially if the truck has other mods such as intake/exhaust/suspension on it. So you might run the risk of getting caught if you ran into an engine problem in the future.

There is a 5.7 performance cam available over the counter from Dodge.

That might be covered under warranty. Worth asking about.

Typically the 5.7 performance cams are on backorder, and the cost is 3 or 4 times more than a stock one. So even if you can manage to get one unless you pay the difference you wouldn't be able to get it covered under a warranty swap. I don't think there's been a real big rash of dealers warranty covering cams either as they don't typically fail. Now if you are doing something else and they squeeze it in there you might be able to get that one done.....
