i have a dilema. my wife and i have two horses and the truck that i used to hual the trailer with was the unfortunate victim of a hit and run in a parking lot and the insurance company totaled the truck. i have a 25 foot goose neck trailer that is capable of holding three horses. im pretty sure that the power train, with the help of a transmision cooler and the appropreate gages to monitor the fluid tempuretures, can handle the trailer. i have halued trailers of nearly identical size and have had little to no problem. my concern and want for the helper spring is the constant use and the potentaill to over load. what spring kit would you suggest or would you suggest that i can the idea and buy another truck???

I am not too sure but I know that you already have a transmission cooler installed in your truck!!

I haven't towed anything as large as your gooseneck yet, but since I put on Supersprings a few years ago I have been very happy. I've overloaded the bed with dirt, rock, sod, and wood and have never even hit the bump stops. The rear end sway that I had when loaded and at highway speed is almost all gone.
We now have two horses with a foal due any day so I may be able to talk the wife into upgrading to a 2500, although she has her eye on a F-250 diesel Frowner

I hear you,
I don't know if I'd be comfortable pulling three full grown horses (depending on breed, maybe shetlands)in my 1500.
How's things in Savannah? I lived in Windsor Forest in the Mid nineties. What a beautiful Old South City. Some of the nicest folks I've ever met. I've been meaning to make a trip down for St Patricks Day but keep getting deployed.

helper bags are another option... and they are adjustable.

do you know what the total weight of the trailer (loaded) will be... will it exceed your trucks payload capacity? if something "happened", your insurance could deny the claim, and/or if you hit someone else, the consequences may be pretty steep.

What is the "unloaded" ride like in your truck without a load or towing? I'm interested in the SuperSprings but hear that "helper" springs give a harsh ride when the truck is empty.

Thanks

THANKS FOR THE INPUT GUYS. I HAVE BEEN DEPLOYED AND HAVE NOT HAD ACCESS TO A COMPUTER FOR A WHILE. BAGS ARE A GOOD VIABLE OPTION AND I WOULD CONSIDER DOING THAT. THE HELPER KIT THAT I FOUND WAS ONE THAT I USED TO HAVE ON MY OLD F-250 WHEN I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL AND IT NEVER RODE HARSH AT ALL IT REALLY IN ALL HONESTY STATED TO RIDE AND HANDLE A LITTLE BETTER. BUT I WILL NOW CONTINUE MY SEARCH FOR A SOLUTION. IF ANYONE HAS ANY MORE SUGESTIONS PLEASE SEND THEM MY WAY.

I installed a set of Road Masters Active Suspension on mine, work very well, add about 500lbs capacity to the rear and don't affect the ride very much when not loaded. Just another option

I'm not sure that I follow you. Your truck was totalled and you now have a differant truck. Is that right? Is the truck a 1500 or a 2500?
Before you just go out and add a tranny cooler you should talk to a tranny shop. Transmissions are made to run between certain temperatures. So you don't want it to hot or to cool. I had overload springs on my 2500. They were a good option I thought. They really didn't efect ride. because the ride was already bad. But under heavy loads my rear did squat at all.

A little advise if you want it. Don't buy a Ford F-250 with a diesel. They get terrible mileage. And it doesn't matter if they are loaded or not.The last company truck my son drove was a 2 wheel drive F-250 automatic diesel. It got 12 miles to the gallon didn't matter if it was unloaded it still got only 12 MPG. MY last truck a Dodge 2500 Cummins, automtic, regular cab,4x4,with a 3000 pound load in the bed got 19 mpg.
