My rear end is saggin' quite a bit..probably from a few overloaded trips. I would like to find a factory 3/4 ton spring pack to put on the rear of my 03 1/2 ton. Will the 3/4 tom springs fit? If anyone has a 200 and would be willing to take a few measurements for me I would appreciate it. I need eye to eye, width of spring at each eye, and width of spring at axle.

Thanks guys.

That would be a nice upgrade. Or even a one ton spring. Think of the guys face when you load 3500lbs. in a 1500 and it is sitting pretty. That would be awesome!

I've already had the opportunity to check on 1 ton dually springs...and they are WAY to wide by over an inch.

To tell you the truth, I think that 3500 lbs is what ruined my rear leafs as it was. I went to the sand and gravel pit to pick up a load of sand for the pool. The guy guy on the loader was supposed to load 1/2 yard of sand in the bed of my truck that would have weighed approximately 1500 lbs. He filled up the bucket and dumped the entire thing into the bed. I know for a fact it was a 1 cubic yard bucket. I was sitting on the scales at 5200 empty, and rolled off at just under 8500. 3000 plus is not kind to these little 1/2 ton springs.

I quit running factory 4 ply's as soon as I get a vehicle. All of my trucks regardless of size run 8-10 ply tires. In fact, on this truck I run 10 ply BFG's at 265-70 on 17 inch wheels.

I think it would be a good upgrade too. I've drove a 3/4 ton hemi truck when I went to look at this one 4 years ago, and the ride didn't seem too harsh at all. In fact, I think it stiffens the ride enough that it handles and rides way better than my 1/2 ton. If I can do this, I'm going to for sure.

one thing you have to watch out for is that the bearing in a 1/2 ton and a 3/4 ton axles are differnt. You could run into some issues there and i belive the only differance between 1 ton and 3/4 springs are the number of leaves in them.

Try going to a spring shop. They should be able to add a leaf to your spring pack.

If you go to some of these trucking areas and look at the repair places they have companies that will re-arch your springs. We did that on my pals old hot rod to get rid of the droops.

3/4 and 1 ton ram springs are the same... the 1 ton has an "extra" set of overloads. So if the 1ton springs are too wide for our hangers, the 3/4 ton springs will be too. What might not be a bad idea, is finding those "extra" overloads from a 1 ton. They do not come in contact with normal driving, only when a load is present. There is an extra set of perches that bolt to the frame above the main springs, that the overloads move up and make contact with...

going to see if i can find a picture...

if you look close, there is another "set" of overloads ON TOP of the spring pack, separate from the "main" springs.

What about just some old fashion steel helper springs. I think hellwig makes a few different sets for our trucks. They add spring stiffness and restore arch. Another thing to think about is don't the 3/4 tons have a bigger rear axle? I know they have a 10in ring gear. So that provides some of the added weight handling of the 2500 too right?

Yeah, I believe (without looking) the rearends are 9.25, 10.5(3/4), and 11.5(1ton). Pretty sure that adds to the payload just for the simple fact that the bigger rear ends can handle the weight, not necessarily that they "add" payload obviously.

There is one more thing that a spring shop can do for you, they can rearc your springs. I have no idea what they would charge for this now days but it is an option.
