Well, I finally got around to getting my sound system upgraded. Kept stock head unit but I installed an Alpine MRP-300/4-channel amp, Alpine 6x9's in front and Infinity 6022cs in rear. After getting my gain set correctly, this thing hits pretty good now even w/o a sub. My question is this: Has anyone else added new speakers in the doors and did you run NEW wiring? I couldn't get anything through that friggin' plug there....Still sounds great tho!!!

I ram my wires up to the crossovers up front and only used the stock wires to go through the grommets, they are a decent stranded wire gauge, they can hold at least 100 watts rms I would think,

My wire is run from my amp to the stock wiring harness, so I didn't actually go all the way to the speaker. Even though that's what I asked for when I had the amp installed originally. I was a little upset when I found out that's what they did.

That is typical of most install shops due to them wanting to save time and not hack the harnesses if you were to go back stock, thats the way most of the shops work, but if you asked for it you should have gotten it.

So does anyone have any pics of the drill hole through the factory harness? Where exactly did you drill it? I did this on one and it broke the clip on one side. Still seals up pretty well and should not be an issue, but would like to know before I do the others if there is a better way.....that keeps the locking clips.

I like some of the stuff that guy did. I plan on doing my amp panel the same way. However, it looks like to get enough width he had to cover the vents. I wonder what kind of negative effects what will have?

I don't know. What are they even really there for? Seems like they are essentially covered up with the foam barrier factory anyways. Can't imagine they "vent" much of anything. When i do mine, I am going to probably use a diamond plate panel. last time I just used steel, but had to paint it. This time I will go something corrosion resistant.

When my stereo was first installed before I changed out just about every part of it the shop tried to use the stock wires to run power from my amp to the speakser.. 200watts rms per side.

I told they that wasnt going to fly.
They made two small hole. one on the door and one on the frame to run new wires.
Ran 14 gauge speaker wire that is extreamly well rapped in electric tape. Unless you get down there and take a look at things it looks just like a factory wire
