Granted I could take off the panel and measure them, but I figured it would be easier and more fun to just ask. Big Grin

What is the size of the rear door speakers in the QC with the Infinity system? Crutchfield says 6.5"...I see on other sites it says 5.25". What's the real deal here?

yep, so are mine in my '05. I just ordered 6.5 thanks to Crutchfield's website. I pulled my speaker and they are 5.25... I'm going to see about stuffing the 6.5 in there, though.

that's odd because I'm pretty sure my rear speakers in my '05 QC are 6.5" but I don't have the factory Infinity system. maybe that's the difference? My installer got a pair of Diamond Audio D3 6.5" coax speakers installed with no issues.

Thanks for the replies, guys. It is weird..it seems some have 5.25 and others have 6.5. I haven't been able to narrow it down if it's standard vs. Infinity. That must be the difference.

That gives me confidence I'll be able to stuff the 6.5s back there.

I thought 6.5's would fit with an adapter for sure. You figure you don't have to lift a 6.5 much off the door to make the cone fit in a 5.25 hole. But, that is weird if the Infinity has smaller speakers in the rear than the standard.... Confused

Wow..I recieved the speakers adn 3 hours later I got the 6.5 to mount in the rear. There's no adapter you can buy that will work. Due to the volcano type riser in the sheet metal, if I cut it where the 6.5 would mount it's right on the riser part (no flat point to screw into). If I cut out where I had a flat spot to screw to it was then too big for 6.5 to mount.

So, I had to make my own adapters. I had to make 2 1/4 rings. The 1st had the same hole cutout as the door (5"), the 2nd had the hole cutout for the woofer (5.5"). The problem was the taper on the woofer wasn't enough to fit into the 5" hole on the 2nd ring. I used sandpaper to widen it until it just fit. Then I tapered the inside edge of that ring to it would fit up against the one the woofer would mount to. From there I was able to mount the 1st ring with the ~5" hole in it to the door. I put gasket on the inside where it contacts the door and then gasket to cover the recessed screws and for the 2nd ring to contact. I was then able to mount the 6.5 to the 2nd ring and install those onto the 1st ring. Worked great until I put the fuggin door panel on. Too much spacing, but I got it to work. It's very tight, but worked out. I haven't got them even wired up yet. I was too irriated and tired so I quit for the night. I'll get back to wiring them up in the next day or 2.

Mind you I could have got the 6.5 to mounted in the rear much easier, but it's important to make sure the adapters are sealed well against the door and the woofers sealed well against the adapters.

The 6x9 adapters for the door 6.5 and 3.5" adapters for the tweeters all worked out great.

My 6.5's wouldn't fit..not even close. THe hole in the door was too small so the mounting ring of the basket would not fit flush to the door frame. I got it to work with some .5" spacers, though.
