Figured i will show y'all what goes into building a competion spl setup. My setup is not 100% for SPL comps, but more geared for daily listening, mind you i listen to country, and bass boxing. Not saying i can't compete in the SS 1-2 no wall class just i would get out done by the astro vans in that class. Hope y'all enjoy

Alright, so i needed to rebuild my quickly thrown togther system now that i all my parts are just about here. The old box and amp/bat rack was to be big and i can't pull my seats all the way back. The old box had a port that was entirely too big, 222 sq inches of port area, and tuned way too high, i am thinking about 45-48 hz. That and i find out my fence was bent on my table saw so the cuts weren't straight.

So here is the plan. New box and amp/bat rack. The new box is gonna be a bit longer but little skinner so i can keep my 9.2 cubic feet of air space. I am not gonna use a slot port this time but a set of 4" aeroports at 10" long so this will give me a port tuning of about 35 hz. The battries are not gonna be connected by two runs of 1/0 wire per terminal but i am gonna run a set of buss bars instead.

Here is what the system consits of.

2 digtital design 9515's
2 memphis mojo 4kw
1 audiocontrol line driver
6 kinetik hc1800

i will have pictures up tomorrow of what i did today. Half way built the box, left one side off so i can resin and sand the inside of the box better. Tomorrow, resin the inside of the box, smooth it out, and hopefully put the other side on. Well the resin is curing, i will start on the amp/bat rack and get that built and painted. My last two bats show up on the 30th as do my aeroports.

the memphis are the amps, 4000 watts apiece at 1 ohm. the dd's need anywhere from 4-5 cubic feet of airspace

first the vids with the sytem as it sits now. As you can see in the video's the box is tuned too high and i didn't put a loading wall in between the two subs. On lower notes the speakers unload and get out of phase. I would like to point out my truck now has the distinct smell of burnt voice coils. I love it!

I'm loud, proud, and country by the grace of god. Some Colt Ford with Tim Mcgraw

SOme country for y'all

and some rap which is too low for setup, which how the speakers onload.

And now some pics, check out my way too big port

and a poor attempt of a pic at the 3 batts i got in there now

ooooh man that looks SICK! Function over form.

Here's a pretty noob question for you....how much does that audio control bass engine help?

I've been toying with the idea of how it would help my setup (alpine 9887 to a hifonix D class with a remote type deal). The stereo has a built in cross over, then I can tune the amp from the remote and at the amp itself.

If you can, please reply in a PM so we don't hijack your thread.

That line driver is too help jack up the voltage on the rca's for the amps. My Headunit puts out 2.8 volts at the line driver and have the amps seeing about 6 volts.

And it isn't high jacking, it is a build thread. I will answer any questions

in my opinion a pair of 4" aeroports is short for a pair of 15's specialy DD9515, i suggest you leave room for a 3th one at least

sorry, i didn't describe the box properly. The box is two chambered, one chamber per sub. two aeroports per chamber. I am playing off the old crx style box design. I know they work since i used to run that style box in my old 4runner. If the aeroports don't work right, i will go ahead and go back to a slot port.

OK, that's more like it, that's gona sound insane, i did one for a Type R 15 with 2 4" aeroports and it was seek with 1000 watts,
the aeroports are great to keep the port noise down.
cheers Big Grin

That is true with the port noise and i slao think the port velocity is higher. I built 2 boxes, same design, dimensions, everything except the port. One box i ran the aeroports, the other i ran a slot port. Both were tuned high, say 49 hz and i was burping the system at 57 hz. The aeroports were louder and they sounded crisper playing music.

Wow Nice build!
I wish i could do that with mine but I need the back seat for the baby's car seat.

I had a 1997 Jeep GC Limited with the 5.9
I took out the back seats and
I was running
2 10" L7's
6 12" L7's
2 15" L7's

The first day it was finished I turned it on with the remote from outside and I fogot to crack the window and it blew out the back window!
Oh what fun I had!
I am green with envy over your build!
